Victoria Salazar Mendez passed away July 29, 2019, at the age of 87.
Victoria was born January 12,1932 in Crystal City, Texas to Domingo and Pabla (Carrillo) Salazar. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with her siblings Isabel, Senovio, Maria, and Lupe. One of her favorite vacations was when she was able to return to Crystal City later in life.
Victoria was an incredibly hard worker. She was employed with Texas A&M Environmental Services for 13 years. At one point Victoria held down three jobs in order to provide for her children Arthur, Joe, and Ralph, whom she cared for as her own son. She made sure they always had what they needed. A single mom, she loved her sons with all her heart. Once her grandson and great-grandchildren came along, her loving care extended to them as well. Victoria was so excited when her first great-granddaughter was born on October 2, 2002. A very resilient person, Victoria was able to always bounce back and be the rock of the family.
Victoria loved watching her telenovelas, cooking, taking walks, and sightseeing. A woman of strong faith, she loved attending Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church as often as she could.
Victoria leaves behind her son Joe, grandson Joe Jr., granddaughter-in-law Lisa, her great-grandchildren Mary Isabel and Johnny Ryan, along with many nieces and nephews.
To honor Victoria's life, her family has planned a visitation at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan, on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30am. Interment will take place at Mt.Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bryan.
