Sylvia Romero Herrera

Sylvia Romero Herrera, 47, of Round Rock, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Sylvia was born April 3, 1970 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan to Alfred and Domingo Romero. As her father passed away when she was just eight, Sylvia grew up very close to her mother. She loved playing school and enjoyed bowling as a child. She played softball for Little League West and was an all-star pitcher. One of her favorite things to do was to scare her brother Tony and play pranks on him. As she grew older, she enjoyed shopping, video games, and listening to music. She loved spending time with her cousins while going to Bryan High School.

Sylvia met her husband Rudy on October 18, 1995 when they were introduced by Jennifer Escamilla. They were married exactly seven years later, on October 18, 2002. Her husband and four children were everything to Sylvia. She worked hard to provide for her family; it was important to her. Luckily for her, she enjoyed the work with Endeavor Real Estate Group. The Christmas bonus and prizes she won at parties with work were appreciated. She loved her job and valued the love and respect her employers and coworkers showed for her even as she was no longer able to work.

Sylvia was a talker. She started up conversations with all kinds of people. Her feisty, carefree spirit drew people to her. She was spontaneous, and enjoyed being around people – especially family. She enjoyed watching baseball and going to music concerts, but more than anything she loved having a barbeque with the family. Whenever the family gathered, whether it be for a party, someone sick in the hospital, or a funeral, Sylvia could be counted on to be there. She was especially proud to be there to celebrate when her son Christian walked the stage for high school graduation. Sylvia’s faith was very important to her. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock, but the Mercy Women’s ACTS retreat really brought her closer to God and changed her life.

Sylvia will be missed by her large family: her husband Rudy Herrera; her children Aaron Lara, Amber Romero, Christian Herrera, and Regan Herrera; her mother Dominga Romero; her mother and father-in-law Mary Helen and Benny Narrow; her mother and father-in-law Roy and Rosie Herrera; her brother and sister-in-law Tony and Theresa Romero, her brother-in-law Bobby Pena and his wife Eve; her sister-in-law Sandra Polley and her husband Curtis; her sister-in-law Gracie Garcia and her husband Joe; her grandchildren Ava Lara, Emma Romero, Aaylah Banks, Nora Stewart, and Sebastian Stewart; her nieces Ashley Romero, Haley Romero, Trinity Romero, Celeste Acarto, Eden Leah Pena, and Briana Polley; and her nephews Anthony Romero, Robert Pena, Michael Polley, Xavier Garcia, and Joseph Garcia.
