Ramon Chavez, 81 of Bryan went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 1st, 2018. A time for family to receive friends will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at Hillier Funeral Home of BRYAN. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm the night of the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 6th, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
Ramon was born on February 13, 1937 in Encinal, Texas and grew up in Carrizo Springs, Texas. He was married to Frances (Estrada) for 42 years until her passing on July 19, 2011. He enlisted in the Texas National Guard before serving in the U.S. Army. While in the U.S. Air Force, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in 1968. He was an avid military history enthusiast who enjoyed reading, traveling and being with his family. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially Aggie football. Ramon was employed at Technology Plastics prior to his retirement.
Ramon leaves behind his loving children, Marie Griffin and husband Scott, John Chavez, Angela Chavez and numerous relatives and friends.
