June 9, 1950 ~ February 25, 2019 (age 68)
Ima Clydale Cox passed away February 25, 2019, at the age of 68.
Ima was born June 9, 1950 to Clyde Willis and Ima Jean (Duvall) Cox in Duncan, Oklahoma. She grew up between Oklahoma and Texas with her brothers Clyde and Jimmy and her sister Pamela. Her father served as a Naval sailor during World War II, and then worked in landscaping, while her mother took care of the home and family. Ima traveled a lot with her family, and fondly remembered all their summer trips to Galveston. Ima went to school until the 8th grade, when she dropped out to get a job and help with the family income.
Ima was a hard worker who lovingly raised three boys on her own, her son Marty Dale Cox, and her nephews Michael Dewayne and Matthew Dillon Cox. After her sister Pamela passed away, Ima adopted her sons and raised them as her own. Her boys meant the world to her and always came first, followed closely by her brothers and the rest of her family. To support her sons, Ima did factory work and worked for the dry cleaners. She gladly did whatever it took to take care of her family.
Ima was always a happy, fun person. Kindhearted and sweet, she loved to make people laugh. Valuing people more than possessions, Ima was not materialistic and never met a stranger. She really enjoyed gardening, and cherished her plants and garden.
Ima leaves behind her son Marty Cox, her adopted nephews Michael Cox and Matthew Cox, her grandchildren Ethan Cox, Brailey Cox, and Luke Cox, her brother Jimmy Cox, her brother and sister-in-law Clyde and Charlene Cox, her nephews Jarl “Bud” Cox, Christina Cox, Gloria Cox, and Jason Cox, and several great nieces and nephews.
To honor Ima’s life, a memorial is being planned for a later date.
