George A. Leighman passed away August 18, 2018 at the age of 79.
George was born November 19, 1938 in Edge, Texas to Donald and Jewel (Closs) Leighman. He was married to his wife Janie on June 11, 1966. They were married for 45 years, until she passed in 2011. He was a caring husband and a wonderful father to their sons Donald and Shawn. He loved spending time with his family.
George worked at Alenco Window Company for over fifty years. For fifteen years he worked for The Eagle as a bundle dropper. He also worked for Butter Krust for a couple of years. A fun-loving, social man, George enjoyed hanging out at McDonald’s with his friends. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan.
George is preceded in death by his wife Janie Leighman, his parents, his brother Tommy Leighman, and his sister June Bray. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Kathleen Leighman of Bryan, his son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Brandi Leighman of Thornton, Colorado, his grandchildren Matthew Wayne Leighman and his wife Laura, Jesse Casares, Shawna Balanga and spouse Alicia, Jonathan Casares and wife Rosie, Vincent Casares, Kimberly Spring Leighman, Breanna Michelle Leighman, and McKayla Whitney Leighman, his great-grandchildren Conner Leighman, Jensen Leighman, Kaden DeKing, Jacob Casares, and Elaina Spring Sims, his brother Guy “Buddy” Donald Leighman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends from over the years.
George’s family has planned a visitation from 5-7 on Wednesday, August 22 at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan. His funeral service will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10 AM at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, with burial to follow at New Church Cemetery.
