Sarah Estelle (Slay) Beverly of Bryan, Texas, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018.
A funeral service is set for Thursday, November 8, at 2:00 PM at Hillier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at 1:00 PM, and a graveside service is later in the afternoon at Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch, Texas. The service will be administered by Reverend Roger Dail, her nephew.
Estelle was born December 24, 1925, in Wortham, Texas, to Robert Edward Slay and Ida Belle (Ritter) Slay. Before marriage, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Houston. She married the love of her life, Sherwood Earl Beverly, on December 9, 1944. She worked in the family automobile business with him in Galena Park, Texas. The search for a better family life led them to Madison County. After the passing of Sherwood, she moved to Bryan (1992) where she was an active member of the Brazos County Senior Center in Bryan, Texas.
She raised three children with love and attention. She was a shy person with a great and helpful heart. She lived a simple, unassuming life and found great joy in quilting.
She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: James, Charles, Ophelia, Robbie Lynn, and Ida Belle. She is survived by her three children, Kenneth (Sharon) Beverly, Janette (David) Nowak, and Bob Beverly; three grandchildren, Janna, Judith, and Jamie; her grandchildren’s families, including one special great-grandson, Jackson; and nephews and nieces.
