Claude Elmer Higbee Jr.

Claude E. Higbee Jr., 88, of Bryan, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021. Claude will be remembered as an intelligent man who had a joyous humor, and was always willing to help others.

Claude was born on January 27, 1933, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Claude Higbee Sr. and Emily Higbee. Claude grew up in Mexico, Missouri and joined the military after high school. Claude served honorably in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany post World War II. After his service, he married the love of his life, Margie, with whom he spent 54 years, until her passing in 2010. Together they raised their family in Corpus Christi and Kingsville, Texas where he pursued a career as a lab technician at Celanese Corporation.

Claude enjoyed traveling, and was especially fond of going to his family reunions and on casino trips! He liked to watch football games and Nascar, loved reading the newspaper every day, and enjoyed buying and selling cars. He was an animal lover, he especially loved his cats, and was always feeding the birds and squirrels. He would even give treats to all of his neighbors' dogs! He had a great sense of humor, was always willing to help others, and had a heart of gold. Claude was a member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed the camaraderie of many friends. He loved spending time with his family, and could always be counted on to offer sound advice.

Claude will be remembered by his children, Sandy and husband Vance Sherrod, Wanda and husband Glen Merritt, Larry and wife Mary Jeanne Higbee; grandchildren, Amanda and husband Casey Strickland, Stephanie and husband Caleb Wright, Kyle Higbee and wife Katy Good, Courtney Merritt, and Kelsey Higbee; great-grandchildren, Hatley Wright and Scarlett Wright; and siblings, Gene and Edie.

Claude will now be reunited with his loving wife, Margie (Sharp) Higbee; parents, Claude E. Higbee Sr. and Emily Higbee; and siblings Charlotte, Carol, and Donnie who all passed before him.

Claude will be interred next to Margie at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, TX at a future date with a memorial service to be held at that time.
