William "Bill" Kimmey passed away at his home on May 14, 2024. Born on November 3, 1941, Bill led a remarkable life filled with achievements and cherished moments that will forever be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A proud veteran, Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, spanning the Cold War to the Vietnam War. His selfless service to his country was a testament to his courage and patriotism. Bill's commitment to public service was evident throughout his life. He served as a Houston Fire Department Captain from 1963 to 1987, and later joined the Madisonville Sheriff’s Department, where he continued to make a positive impact in his community.

Bill was also known for his various hobbies and interests. From fishing and farming to gardening and country music, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his great BBQ, raising catfish on the farm, and writing poetry to his wife. A beekeeper at heart, Bill also had a deep fascination with Civil War history, immersing himself in the stories of the past. His love for trains, playing the guitar and Hank Williams was unmatched.  He owned an autographed guitar by many famed country artists. His love for adventure led him to enjoy traveling and vacations, exploring new places and creating lasting memories along the way.

Described as hardworking, honest, and the "rock" of his family, Bill's vibrant personality left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. A social butterfly who was never at a loss for words, Bill's sense of humor and quick wit brought lightness and laughter to every occasion.

He was proud of his 21-year membership at First Baptist Church in College Station where he served as an usher for many of those years. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through both joyful moments and times of challenge.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, his wife of over 46 years, Dale Marie Kimmey; his loving daughter-in-law Shelly Kimmey; grandchildren, Nicholas Kimmey and wife Samantha Kimmey, Vanessa Kimmey, and Robert Kimmey Jr.; great-grandchildren, Penelope Kimmey and Roselyn Kimmey; mother-in-law Della Biehle; sister-in-law Jennifer Biehle Pletcher and spouse Brian; aunt Ann Windsor; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great friends, neighbors of Windrift Cove and helpers Luis, Abby, Arnold, Aileen and Yeti.
