Virginia Lagerstam

Virginia Lagerstam, 98, passed away at The Isle at Watercrest in Bryan on Sunday, July 16, 2023. She was born on December 30, 1924 in Thornton, TX to Lorena Vicie Yates Doss and Lycurgus Eugene Doss.  At the age of 14, following the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Raymondville, TX.

On December 16, 1945, Virginia married Emil Lagerstam Jr. of Lyford. Through tough times and grand times, they set the example of kindness and love, providing a far-reaching model of faith in God to their daughters and grandchildren. They had 65 wonderful years of marriage traveling the world together. Virginia loved collecting spoons and thimbles from around the world. Known by her family and friends for her story-telling and amazing homemade ice cream, she always made the time around her dining table one of laughter and fun. Virginia enjoyed doing needlepoint, sewing, cooking, and arranging flowers in her beautiful vases. In her last years, she relished her coloring books, sharing her finished works with her family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; her siblings and their spouses; as well as all her husband’s siblings and their spouses.

She is survived by her three daughters, Vivian (Richard) Savage of Converse, Kathryn (Bobby) Smith of College Station, and Annika Lagerstam of Kerrville; six grandchildren, Judson Emil (Ali) Savage of Lyford, Jonathan Keith (April) Savage of Cooper, Grant (Darlea) Wilbeck of Dallas, Elizabeth (Tracy) Davis of Austin, Elise Kaye, and Spencer Kaye of Colorado; nine great-grandchildren; four special nieces, Janice Patrick of Humble, Margaret Reaves of Dallas, Brenda Burns Blythe of College Station, and Gwendylon Doss Stone of Lockhart; along with numerous other loving nephews and nieces.
