Virginia Cox, 79, of College Station passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at her residence.
Virginiawas born on April 12, 1929, in Healdton, Okla. She graduated from Southeastern University in Durant, Okla., with a Bachelor of Science in education. She was an elementary school teacher for more than 32 years, teaching in the Galena Park, Conroe and Aldine school districts.
After retirement, she moved to Brenham then to College Station to devote her time to her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and tending to her rose garden. She also enjoyed her volunteer work with the residents at Sheridan on Andersonand Sheridan on Rock Prairie.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Don Cox; parents, Orion and Lola Adcock of Durant, Okla.; and brothers, Thomas, O.T., James, Charles and Kenneth Adcock.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marshelia and Brian Sherling of College Station; two grandsons, Billy Don Beard of Brenham and James Michael Beard of College Station; brother, David Eugene Adcock of Wylie, Texas; and an aunt, Virginia Letourneau of Durant, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Association or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
