Vidal Chicas Alvarez de 85 años, estaba rodeada por sus hijas y familia cuando fue llevada a estar con su Señor y Salvador el 27 de Septiembre del 2023. Le antecede en muerte su esposo Julio Vasquez, su hijo Felix Chicas, nietos Ely Sanchez, Sandra Hernandez, Elsy Carolina Sanchez y bisnieta Bailey Banegas.

Vidal nació en El Salvador, Centro América el 19 de Mayo del 1938 a sus padres Feliciano Alvarez y Luisa Chicas. Fue la primera de 9 y fue criada de orígenes humildes en un tiempo donde no había agua potable, electricidad y ningún sistema educacional formal. A pesar de no haber aprendido a leer, la fortaleza de carácter de Vidal fue evidente desde su juventud. Se casó con Julio Vasquez y fueron bendecidos con 5 hijas y 1 hijo. Vidal fue conocida por ser reservada pero fuerte y valiente. Vivió muchas experiencias donde su vida y la de su familia corría peligro, especialmente durante la guerra civil de El Salvador, pero su manera viva y perspicaz le salvó la vida a su esposo y familia en más de una ocasión. Mientras ella entretenia a las fuerzas armadas con café divisaba planes para asegurar la vida de su familia y esposo.

Las acciones de Vidal durante muchos tiempos de peligro hicieron que se ganara el respeto y cariño de los que tuvieron el privilegio de poder ser parte de su vida. Vidal era una mujer auténtica y de palabra, que a pesar de tal vez no demostrar mucho afecto, tenía un corazón de oro y abrió las puertas de su hogar a muchos niños que no eran de ella. E incluso, permitió que mujeres embarazadas pasaran su tiempo de embarazo en su hogar. El sufrimiento de niños y personas ajenas siempre le conmovio. Cuando Vital tuvo el privilegio de ser madre, abogo para que sus hijos recibieran una educación ya que ella no aprendió a leer por no haber tenido la oportunidad de una educación formal. En una época donde era la expectativa de que la mujer permaneciera en el hogar, ella abogaba porque sus hijas y su único hijo tuvieran la oportunidad de asistir a la escuela. La importancia que Vidal le puso a la necesidad de recibir una educación a sido de influencia para sus hijas, nietos y bisnietos. Vidal era un iman para cualquiera que necesitaba un lugar seguro y proteccion durante epocas de mucho peligro. Vidal hacia todo esto, mientras a la misma vez, era la mano derecha de su esposo Julio en la administración de sus bienes. Aun cuando su pelo negro iba siendo reemplazado por canitas grises siempre se le podía escuchar dando alguna orden de que se fuera a moler, a cuidar las gallinas, checar los pollitos y cuidar de los niños. Mientras sus hijos fueron criados por la mujer fuerte y reservada sus nietos y bisnietos tuvieron el privilegio de vivir su picardía y ocurrencias graciosas. Cuando Vidal emigró a los Estados Unidos tuvo el privilegio de viajar a visitar a su familia a varias partes del país. El tiempo familiar era su mayor regocijo y a pesar de mirarse sería, detrás siempre tenia una picardía que decir. Su partida a dejado un gran vacío y la llevaremos siempre en el corazón. La fortaleza y fe en el Señor mantuvieron su espíritu fuerte incluso en su hora de partir. Vidal conoció y sintió el amor de su familia hasta el final con la confianza que su espíritu estaba en manos del Señor. 

Le sobreviven sus hijas Margarita, Carmen, Cruz, Teresa, y Maribel. Fue amada y es extrañada inmensamente por sus nietos Amílcar, Lupita, Albaluz, David, Elías, Pablo, Damaris, Helen, Edward, Jeny, Miguel, Elsy, Karina, Cesia, Kevin y sus vis-nietos Ashley, Lyndsey, Gael, Dylan, Kimberly, Alexander, Kayla, Xitlaly, Aiden, Gustavo, Mia, Joshua, Aylin, Chelsea, Michelle, Mike, Emma.

Vidal Chicas Alvarez, 85 years old, was surrounded by all her daughters and family when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 27, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband Julio Vasquez, her son Felix Chicas and grandchildren Ely Sanchez, Sandra Hernandez, Elsy Carolina Chicas and great-grand-daughter Bailey Banegas.

Vidal was bom in El Salvador, Central America on the 19th of May of 1938 to parents Feliciano Alvarez and Luisa Chicas. She was the firstborn of 8 and was raised with humble beginnings at a time when there was no running water, electricity and no education system. Despite not learning how to read, Vidal's strength in character stood out from the beginning. She married Julio Vasquez and they were blessed with 5 daughters and 1 son. She is described as a reserved but strong and fearless woman. She encountered many life threatening experiences in her life, particularly during the Civil War in El Salvador in which her quick wit and ingenious thinking saved the life of her husband and family. She was a great hostess and this served her well to outwit armed forces soldiers while hosting them with coffee as she delayed and devised plans to ensure her family's safety. Vidal's actions during these times gained her the respect and love of those who knew her. She was an authentic yet assertive woman, who despite not being overly affectionate, she had a heart of gold and took in children who weren't her own as shel despised the suffering of children. When Vidal became a mother, she was adamant that children receive an education as she could not read herself due to a lack of any formal education. At a time when women were expected to remain in the home she advocated for her daughters and son to be granted the opportunity to attend school. The importance she placed on education is something her children carried on with her grandchildren and great-children. She was a go to magnet for anyone needing safety and shelter as she also opened up her home to expectant mothers during their critical times of need Vidal was all of this while also being the right hand man to her husband as she managed their household farm and cattle and ensured its fruitfulness. Even as her black hair was replaced by silver she could always be heard giving instructions for someone to make tortillas by hand, check on the chicken's laying eggs and for children to be taken care of. While her children were raised by the strong, reserved woman, her grandchildren and great children lovingly experienced her silliness, her affection and sassy attitude that was a true privilege. When Vidal migrated to the United States of America she enjoyed traveling to visit her family in all corners of the U.S. Vidal's tenacity in life, her strength and faith in the Lord kept her spirit strong even until her passing. Vidal knew and felt the love of her family up until the end, as she entrusted her spirit to our Lord

She Is survived by her five daughters, Margarita, Carmen, Cruz, Teresa and Maribel. She was immensely loved and missed by her grandchildren, Amilcar, Lupita, Albaluz, David. Elias, Pablo Damaris, Helen, Edward. Jeny. Miguel, Elsy, Karina, Cesia, Kevin and her great grandchildren, Ashley. Gael, Lyndsey, Dylan, Kimberly. Alexander, Kayla, Xitialy Aiden, Gustavo, Mia, Joshua, Aylin, Chelsea, Michelle. Mike and Emma.
