Thala Hooks, 83, of College Station, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 21, 2021.
Thala was born on January 5, 1938, in Lovelady, Texas. She spent her childhood growing up in Crocket, Texas, and Lovelady, Texas, and graduated from Lovelady High School. Thala was a great businesswoman. She was a retired banker, owned and managed several rental properties, and was an administrative assistant for her colleague, Joe Barton. She was also involved in many organizations including the BCS Chamber of Commerce and the Brazos County Republican Party.
In Thala's spare time, she enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, and attending Sunday school. She also loved spending time with her family and taking trips with them. They went to many places together such as Galveston, New Mexico, San Francisco, and New York.
God was very important to Thala. She was a deeply religious woman and faithfully attended church. She was a member at Christ United Methodist Church and participated in the Senior Sunday School.
The greatest joy in Thala's life was her beautiful family. She was a kind, generous, and dedicated mother who would do absolutely anything for the ones she loved the most. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world. She always taught her family to do the right thing, work hard for what you want, and be your true self. Thala was a loyal, loving, and fierce woman who had a strong faith in God and a deep love for her family and friends. She will be sincerely missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Thala is survived by her significant other, Dr. John Appleby; children, Richard Scott Hooks and wife Sheila Hooks, Russell Brent Hooks, and Holli Hooks; grandchildren, Ryan Logan Hooks and wife Angy Hooks, and Sarah Kaitlyn Hooks, Samantha Walker and husband Daniel Conrad; great-grandsons, Ranger Jackson Hooks, Stephen Conrad-Walker, Ja'steveion Conrad-Walker, Cordeyus Conrad-Walker; great grand daughters, Sa'Riah Conrad-Walker and Iviona Conrad-Walker; and beloved former daughter in law, Connie Hooks.
Thala is reunited in heaven with her parents, Millege Cloud and Ollie Sanders Cloud; 7 siblings and many friends.
