Tara Josephine Hood

October 3, 1994 — October 31, 2023

Bryan

Tara Josephine (“Tara Jo”) Hood, 29, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 31, 2023. Tara was born October 3, 1994 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Joe Bridwell and Terrie Lynn Scott Hood. As a young child, Tara was full of joy and exuberated her passion for Jesus Christ and her family. Her faith was tested when she had to overcome the loss of her mom suddenly at only 8 years old. Through such tragic loss, Tara remained resilient in her faith and was an impressive pillar of strength to her family. She and her father then moved to Bryan to live closer to her mom’s family, including her grandmother, Sandie Light, who helped raise Tara from that point. While in Bryan, she attended Johnson Elementary, which became a second family to Tara. She continued her education locally and eventually graduated from high school and began attending classes at Blinn.

Throughout her life, Tara was a lover of all animals, and even spent some time working at a rescue ranch in California. She particularly loved horses when she was younger and enjoyed riding them in her spare time. No animal ever came close to the love she had for her dear Nadia, a pit bull rescue, that Tara leaves behind.

Tara was especially close to her cousins, extended family and friends. She was passionate about helping people and would do anything in her power to help those in need of anything. Everyone that knew Tara knew how much she loved and cared for people. She was a source of encouragement to those around her and was a person that would welcome anyone into her life with open arms. She always picked other people up and would offer encouragement like no other. She believed a person could accomplish anything they wanted in life with enough determination and help from God and would do what she could to help people achieve their goals. She was genuine and kind, a person that anyone could talk to with no judgment, she would always offer a listening ear, a sounding board and help in any way she could. She helped care for her great-grandmother before her passing in 2020 and continued to care for her grandmother and grandfather, before each of their passing in 2022.

Tara was full of energy and was the life of the party at family functions or events. Being around Tara was never boring. She loved to make people laugh and her smile was contagious. Her family will remember her giant personality and her joy for life.

Tara is survived by her maternal uncle, Bradley Veon McHam Scott and wife Brandy Scott, her paternal uncles Paul Hood, Mark Hood and wife Lucy Hood, her paternal grandmother, Donna Hood, her maternal cousins, Brooke and Brenna Scott, paternal cousins, Garet, Ashby, Claire and Lucy Hood and numerous extended cousins, aunts and uncles. She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Bridwell Hood, her mother, Terrie Lynn Scott Hood, her maternal grandmother Sandie Light, her maternal grandfather, Emil Veon Scott, her paternal grandfather, Joe Hood and her maternal great grandmother, Mary Francis McHam.

The family will observe a private memorial service in the future in Fort Worth, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Tara to her chosen charity, All The World Mission or Make Kids Smile, at P.O. Box 5206, Bryan, Tx 77805 or online at www.alltheworld.org.
