Sybil Marie Britton

Sybil Marie Durdin Britton, at the age of 99, entered into Eternal Rest with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Lovelady, Texas, to Ida Mae and Marion Durdin, and is preceded in death by them and her brothers, Robert, Elmer, Harland, J.C., and sisters, Fay Ayers and Lois Alvarado. Also her loving husband, Bryce Britton in 1978, son, Oran Britton in 2010, and grandson, Richard Mitchell in 2021.

She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She had enjoyed activities with her church social group, the Hill-toppers, and attending her Golden Girls Sunday School Class. In the past, she had been a member and Sunday School teacher at Calvary Baptist Church and Emanuel Baptist Church.

Sybil was a homemaker, and a mom who stayed active in her children’s school, scouts, and sports activities. In later years, she used her seamstress talent at Texas A&M MPC tailoring the Aggie Corp uniforms. She was a great Aggie, Dallas Cowboy, and Houston Texan fan. Her past time activities included sewing, word search books, she said they kept her mind sharp, and liked Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She was lovingly called “Mimi” by her family and friends and was extremely happy when she attended her great-grandchildren’s many activities and play Bingo and other games with them.

Left to mourn her loss is daughter, Sondra Britton Mitchell; granddaughter, Marcy Cashion and husband James; three amazing great-grandchildren, Mitchell Cashion, Claire Marie Cashion, Patrick Cashion, along with Morris Mitchell, Linda Loup; many extended family, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Her faith, loving spirit, laughter, and sense of humor, we will always treasure. Picture albums and videos will keep her close.
