Stephen M. Johnson

July 15, 1955 — April 25, 2024

Bryan, Texas

Steve was born and raised in Palestine, Texas with his parents, Mac and Patsy Johnson.

Steve was a well-educated man that could hold a conversation about most topics. He held many jobs including Conoco Liquid Power, Intresteam, and he retired from A&M University where he worked for SSC as a supervisor. His blue-collar life was at times hard, but he always gave to his family.

He was a family man and dedicated his life to being a husband, father, and grandfather. Margi and Steve were married for 26 years. Steve had one daughter, Lorrie Johnson, and four stepchildren whom he cared for and shared his love with. His grandchildren called him Poppy and so did a lot of other children that were cared for in his and Margi’s home.

Steve enjoyed tinkering and the mechanics of tools and was a master on the BBQ grill. He always had many projects that Margi assigned to him, and he eventually got them done.

He was known for being at his computer with the world of knowledge at his fingertips. If you were hanging out with Poppy, then chances are you were learning something.

He was the backbone of the family, and everyone knew they could call him and he would come to help. He will be missed, and it will be sad for his family not to have him there to lean on or for new memories that will be made without him. His memory will live on through the stories his grandchildren tell their children about him.

Steve now joins his brother, Brian, and mother and father in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Margi; daughters, Lorrie Ermis (Bryan), Ashley Lewis, and Holli Centanni (Malcom); sons, Tyler Centanni (Emily) and Luke Centanni; grandchildren, Greyson Ermis, Everlie Ermis, Mason Lewis, Mila Lewis, Braxton Johnson, Braylon Johnson, and Blaze Johnson; and sisters, Susan Baldree (George) and Donna Mayville.
