Shirley M. McMullen-Stribling

Shirley McMullen-Stribling, 98, peacefully passed away May 11, 2023 in Bryan, Texas in the home of her beloved granddaughter, Tiffany.

Shirley was born to Fred W. and Harriet (McCampbell) McMullen in Maxwell, Iowa. She and her husband moved to San Diego, California in 1949 and she went to work in the aircraft industry and become one of the “Rosie the Riverters” of her time. She raised four loving children, Steven, Nancy, Linda, and George.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Steven and Nancy Barclay; and grandson, Gary.

Shirley is survived by her children, Linda (Carter) White and George F. Carter III; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Traditions Hospice for their care and guidance through this journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Shirley’s honor to your organization of choice.

Upon cremation, Shirley will be taken home to San Diego and a private family graveside service will be officiated by her grandson, the Reverend Brenton Barclay.
