Sammie Ann Hollis, age 80 of College Station, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007 in the St. Joseph Regional Health Center.  Sammie was born October 6, 1926 in Madison County to Samuel Haden and Mary Josephine McNair Magness.

Mrs. Hollis received her Masters degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha Delta Pi.  For many years, she taught school in the Pasadena and Bryan Independent School Districts.  She also served as a Secondary Coordinator for the Bryan Independent School District and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Robertson Hollis; grandson James Robertson Hollis, III. and sisters Yolande Violet Ryman and Mary Lou Conway.

Survivors include three sons  James Robertson Hollis, Jr. & wife Carol Cangelose Hollis, Jr. of College Station, Samuel Sterling Hollis & wife Sandra Hollis of San Augustine, and Haden Lee Hollis & wife Rhonna Duvall Hollis of Burleson County; a daughter Mary Catherine Hollis Simmons & husband David R. Simmons of The Woodlands; brother Vernon “Sonny” Rankin of San Augustine; sister Elizabeth Rankin Frisch & husband Gordon Frisch of Santa Fe, NM; aunt Elizabeth McNair Blagrave & uncle R.A. “Ashley” Blagrave;  nine grandchildren David Ray Simmons, Jr. & wife Melissa Wait Simmons, Courtney Simmons Walker & husband Jon David Walker, Lindsay Leigh Hollis, Justin Lee Hollis, Jordan Tyler Hollis, Ashlee Elizabeth Hollis, Crystal Hollis and John Hanson; four great grandchildren Malyn Rae Simmons, Blane Ann Simmons, Lauren Grace Walker and Sarah Kate Walker.

Funeral Services will be held at 10am Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Central Baptist Church with Reverends Monty Hunt and Jimmy Sanders officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-8pm this evening at Hillier Funeral Home and from 9-10am Saturday at the church.
