Robert "Bob" Floyd Ramsey, 81, passed away in his home in Bedias, Texas, surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, the 29th of September, 2020.
Born September 21, 1939, in West Point, Mississippi, to Robert Brisco Ramsey and Viola Berry Stallings Ramsey, Bob primarily grew up in Houston, graduating from Klein High school. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Later, he attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Bob worked in the trucking industry for most of his life as a driver, owner-operator, and freight broker.
Aside from a deep love for his family, his passions included H-0 scale model trains, riding his property on his John Deere Gator, his cows, his dogs, long drives with his wife, Texas history, Texas countryside, raising cattle, and portable buildings.
Bob, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, was an extremely giving person. He had a sarcastic sense of humor, loved to laugh, and thoroughly enjoyed large family gatherings. He passed on to many generations a remarkable work ethic, true grit, his faith,
a love of nature, stubbornness, and procrastination. Grandpa was stern but tender, project oriented, and loved hugs and holding hands.
Once upon a time, Robert married wife Rita Beth Ramsey and had four children, Lisa Guin (husband Trey), Dodi Geisler (husband John), Jana King, and James Ramsey (wife Shannon). After being married for 32 years, Bob was widowed in 1998. He found love again with wife Janice Elaine Ramsey, and her two sons Troy (wife Jennifer) and Justin (wife Courtney). Bob and Jan shared 14 happy years in marriage.
Together, Bob and Jan have grandchildren Mason Guin (wife Stefanie), Peyton Guin, Jacob Plouffe, Michaela Plouffe, Garret King, Reagan King, Gatlin Ramsey, Leighton King, Zachary Geisler, Sophie Geisler, Hanna-h Geisler, Jake Bennett, Shelby Bennett, Emma Bennett, Addison Bennett, Alexandria Geisler, Sean Geisler, and Natasha Geisler. Robert is also survived by siblings Janice Starita, Mike Starita, Forrest Robinson, Jackie Rayner, and Billy Tarrant, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Robert/Bob/Dad/Grandpa/Uncle Bobby/Bobby will be incredibly missed by so many people, but he lives on in all that he gave each and every one of us.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 3rd at Hillier Funeral Home in College Station with family graveside service at Humphrey Cemetery in Martindale.
