Robert (Bobby) S. Lopez, 67, of Bryan, passed away October 25, 2022 at his residence.
Bobby was the third son born to Fidencio and Bertha (Segundo) Lopez on August 13, 1955. He grew up in Bryan, where he attended school and First Mexican Baptist Church. He worked as a control room operator for Houston Lighting and Power and as a corrections officer, finally retiring from the workforce after working at Walmart for over 15 years.
A generous, kind, humble, and gentle soul, Bobby loved and appreciated life so much that he passed that quality on to his family, whom he loved spending time with. He was very proud and supportive of all his nephews and nieces. “All the Lopez girls are smart and beautiful,” he would say. He also loved to remind them, “There are doers and crybabies in this world; no one in this family is a crybaby!”
He loved the outdoors and especially reading outside while lying in his hammock. He often talked about building a cabin out by a lake so family could gather. He was financially savvy, yet very frugal and enjoyed watching old westerns and action movies and collecting historical newspapers and magazines.
Bobby is now reunited with his parents, Fidencio and Bertha Lopez; brothers, Fidencio Jr., Joe Sr., and Daniel; and nephew Fidencio III.
Left behind to cherish his memory are siblings, Jeff Lopez, Mikel and wife Dora, Ruben and wife Theresa, and sister-in-law Gloria; nieces and nephews: Eddie and wife Maria, Diann and husband Lorenzo, Vera and husband Mauricio, Joe Jr. and wife Karina, Steven and wife Emily, and Jaime and husband Vladimir; Michelle, Melani, Sage, and Ruben; 17 great-nephews and great-nieces; great-great nephew Adrian; and great-great niece Madilyn.
