Reverend Enrique “Henry” Hernandez Sr., 83, passed away February 28, 2023.
God’s faithful servant, Henry was a servant to everyone he met and was always loving, giving, and humble. He was born in Harlingen, Texas, grew up in Hearne, Texas and met his wife, Santos, at the Chapman Theater. They moved to Bryan in 1970 and over the years, enjoyed traveling to New York in 1995 and taking several cruises with family and fishing trips with the sons. He always enjoyed spending time with all his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church family
Henry worked at Crane Plumbing in Hearne for 40 years, he was a Sunday School teacher for 15 years, and a Pentecostal Pastor for 20 years. He loved to counsel people and pray for all their needs. A very caring and selfless person, he influenced many others with his positive nature. His favorite Bible verse was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Philippians 4:13. He ministered in Sherwood Nursing Home and Brazos County Jail, leading people to Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Seferino and Consuelo Hernandez; grandson, Nicholas Daniel Hernandez; great-grandsons, Micah and Elijah Saenz; sister, Mary Gonzalez; brother, Reverend Edward Hernandez; and son-in-law, John D. Silva.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Santos Montelongo Hernandez; children, Mary Jane Silva (John), Henry Hernandez Jr. ( Alice) of Waxahachie, Texas, Daniel Hernandez (Celia), Elizabeth Alderete (Ray Sr.), Isaac Hernandez (Maria), Charles Hernandez (Sally), and Dina Revilla (Robert) all from Bryan, Texas; grandchildren, Amos (Vicky) Silva, Valarie Silva, Natalie (Sam) Martinez, Paul (Courtney) Silva, Jonathan (Elissa) Hernandez, Jared (Madison) Hernandez, Jennifer (Christopher) Saenz, Joshua (Courtney) Hernandez, Erik Hernandez (Amanda), Ray (Shantel) Alderete Jr., Jeremy (Desiree) Alderete, Zack (Cailyn) Alderete, Joe Louis (Mason) Hernandez, Amber (Jesse) Acosta, David Rodriquez, Jasmin Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Michael (Jacklynn) Hernandez, Paul (Krystal) Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Sarah (Christopher) Gonzalez, Trevor Fehr, Farrah (Sergio) Ballesteros, Genevieve Revilla, Gianna Revilla, Adalia Revilla, and Demerie Revilla; 40 great-grandchildren.
