Ray M. Januszewski

August 28, 1943 — November 28, 2023

Brenham, Texas

Ray M. Januszewski, 80, went peacefully to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on November, 28, 2023.

Ray was born in the Greenville community of Washington County on August 28, 1943 to parents, Joseph and Mary (Cendalski) Januszewski. He attended school at Mill Creek, Berlin, and St. Mary’s Parochial School. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1961. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and served for 3 years, with one tour in Korea with the 1st Cavalry Division and the remainder at Fort Riley, Kansas with the 1st Infantry Division. He had attained the rank of infantry sergeant and was honorably separated in 1964. After separation, he went to work for and helped open H-E-B grocery in Brenham. He also enrolled at Blinn College as a full-time student. While doing both, he also went to work for Steadley Company, a bedding manufacturer, which later became Leggett and Platt. Ray graduated from Blinn College in 1967 and was employed at Leggett and Platt for 41 years until his retirement. After retirement to stay busy and active, he went to work at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in facility maintenance for the next 11 years, until his health forced him to stop working.

After he stopped working, he still remained as active as he could. Throughout his life, Ray was a talented carpenter and woodworker and could fix just about anything. He loved to cook and leaves behind several original recipes for his family to enjoy for years to come. His time in the military taught him to be extremely neat and organized that continued throughout his life. His greatest joy in life and the legacy he leaves behind is in his children and grandchildren. He spent the last years of his life being highly committed to watching his grandchildren grow up and nothing gave him more pride than watching their successes.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Januszewski; his sisters, Janie Goryczki and husband, Bruno, Stella Kubitzka and husband, John, and Monica Krenek and husband, Johnnie; his brothers, Stanley Januszewski and wife, Mary, and Bill Januszewski and the mother of his children, Patricia Bass Ray.

He is survived by daughter, Shannon Jacobs and daughter, Brandy Scott and husband, Brad Scott; and granddaughters, Brooke and Brenna Scott; his brother, John Januszewski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, as well as close friends.
