Phyllis Lorna Muehlenburg Hedstrom, 98, of College Station, Texas went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 23, 2022. She was born March 25, 1923, on a farm near White City, Kansas, to Walter F. and Alvina Friederike Weber Muehlenburg. She graduated from White City High School in 1940. At the time of her death, Phyllis was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, College Station, Texas, where she was active with the Braille/Seeing Impaired Ministry.

Phyllis moved to Oakland, California in 1941, and later resided in Berkley, California, where on May 3, 1942 she married Ralph Daniel Hedstrom, formally of Burdick, Kansas. The Lord blessed the union with two children: Roger Francis and Patricia Elaine. In 1946 Phyllis and Ralph along with their two children moved north to Central Valley, California. In 1949 the family moved to Chico, California where she was a faithful mother and wife. While in Chico, she later worked as a drapery seamstress at Wood’s Furniture Store. Phyllis resided in Chico for 54 years and taught Sunday school at Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years. She also loved to spend many hours at salad luncheons and playing pinochle with family and friends.

In 2003, she and her husband moved to Rockwall, Texas to be near their daughter. Phyllis was a great seamstress and enjoyed quilting, dressing dolls, knitting, crocheting Afghans, fishing, and traveling in their motor home. While in Rockwall, Texas she spent time revitalizing dolls and later giving them away.

In 2015, she and her husband moved to College Station, Texas with their daughter and son-in-law to be near their grandson and his wife, along with three of their great-grandchildren. Phyllis and Ralph celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in College Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph D. Hedstrom of College Station, Texas; brother, Walter Adolph Muehlenburg of White City, Kansas; sister, Loretta Helen Muehlenburg Detmer of Twin Falls, Idaho; son, Rev. Roger Francis Hedstrom, of Rockwall, Texas; and grandson, Rye Daniel Lemons of Arroyo Seco, New Mexico.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Patricia and spouse Gilbert Reed Lemons of College Station; and three grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Casey Lemons, of College Station, Texas, Andrei and Sherry Hedstrom of Ferndale, California, and Christina Hedstrom of Keosauqua, Iowa; 4 great-grandchildren, Riley Elaine Lemons, Porter Reed Lemons, Allie Kathleen Lemons of College Station, Texas and Raine Fisher Hedstrom of Ferndale, California; sister, Joyce Eileen Muehlenburg Nagal of Great Bend, Kansas- currently Houston, Texas; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Memory of Life Service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, College Station, Texas to be held Friday, January 28th, at 1 pm. A memorial internment service will follow at a later date at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a ministerial scholarship fund at Concordia University, Austin, Texas or Holy Cross building, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1200 Foxfire, College Station, Texas 77845.
