Patricia "Pat" Treadwell

Patricia Ann Treadwell passed away June 14, 2019, at the age of 69.

Patricia was born February 1, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts to Hilarion Fernandez and Florence Arlene Zarate. Growing up in Hyannis, Massachusetts with her sisters Karen and Beulah and her brothers Paul and James, Patricia's activities were limited due to her heart murmur and rheumatic fever. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, listening to music, and skating. She was very close to her sisters and her cousins, and to her best friend Pam Murphy, enjoying going out to listen to music and dance.

Attending Barnstable High School in 9th and 10th grade, Patricia began her family during her teen years, with the birth of her daughter Deborah Marie. Patricia was married young in 1967 to Gary Berube, after being introduced by her father who worked with Gary. They were married in St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis, with a reception at the VFW. Her daughters Carrie Ann and Brenda Lee were the best part of the marriage. By age 21, Patricia was a single parent, getting help from her parents and family. She was able to go back to school while holding down a full-time job as a waitress. She was able to get her GED and then completed some college coursework at Cape Cod Community College and then at Blinn College.

Patricia got a new beginning in her life when she married her husband Philip Treadwell and moved to Texas City. Together she and Philip with their son Jonathan David. He adopted her other three children as his own, and they shared their lives together for 36 loving years. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and would go above and beyond to help whenever they needed her. She remained very close with her parents, siblings, and their children, and they were part of her inner circle. Spending time with them brought her joy. After their mother passed away, she and her sister Karen went to Hawaii for a much-needed rest after caring for their mother.

Because each of her daughters had health issues, Patricia spent a great deal of time in doctor's appointments and hospitals. With her loving and generous nature, she always put her children and family first, along with the friends who were close enough that they were considered family. She believed in the "Golden Rule," and taught her children to be good people as well. They always knew how much they were loved, as she said, "I love you" every day. She was a very supportive mother, always telling them, "You can do anything you put your mind to."

Patricia worked as a court house clerk. There she met one of her closest friends, Claire Barry. When she wasn't working, she was part of a bowling league. She loved the sport and enjoyed meeting new people. She met her friend Maria Yandell through bowling, and they became longtime friends and teammates. Her highest scoring game was 202. Patricia also enjoyed baking and cooking, painting, playing Bingo, and chatting with family and friends. She loved taking road trips, cruising, and gaming. Spending time with family and friends was a favorite activity for Patricia. She loved parties and family get togethers as they gave her a great chance to laugh and joke around.

Patricia leaves behind her husband Philip Treadwell; her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Brues Van Nort, her daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Chris Rossen, her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Brian Hand, her son Jonathan Treadwell; her grandchildren Jillian Szatanek (and her husband Andy Szatanek), Andrew Van Nort (and his wife Rachel Van Nort), and Ginger Treadwell; her great-grandchildren Sienna Van Nort, Lilianna Szatanek, and Wallace Szatanek; her sisters Karen Zarate Rood and Beulah Georgantas; her brothers Paul Zarate and Jimmy Zarate; her nieces Julie Rood, Cindy Georgantas, and Kristen Todd & Gabby Dollak; and her nephews Jeff Rood and Nicolas Georgantas.
