Ouida Darlene Edison, 73, of College Station, left this life on August 12, 2022.
Born on October 14, 1948 to Amos and Winnie Veazey, Ouida grew up with her brother and sisters. After high school, she decided to become a registered nurse, skills she would use for over 50 years. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Pasadena Public Library, Golden Acres Elementary school in Pasadena, and Hope Pregnancy Center in College Station, Texas.
She married the love of her life, William Edison in 1970. They shared 51 years of love, adventures, family, struggles, heartaches, and much joy.
Ouida lived to serve the Lord in everything she did. She delighted in sharing Jesus with as many people as she could. Making food was one of her love languages. Many people have been the recipient of her love in the form of Christmas apple cake, gumbo, soup, pasta, or casseroles. She enjoyed making things - many cross-stitch patterns and baby blankets carry her love as well. Everywhere she went, she looked for someone to love and encourage. She served in whatever capacity she could at Forest Oaks Baptist Church in Houston, Memorial Baptist Church in Pasadena, Grove Community Church in Pasadena, and Living Hope Baptist Church in College Station, TX.
Ouida was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Winnie Veazey; her son Christopher Edison; and her sister, Joyce Sayegh.
Ouida leaves behind her much beloved husband, William Edison; daughter and granddaughter Elizabeth Edison and Anastasia Edison; daughter Rachel Burk and husband Scott Burk; grandchildren Corinne Burk and Nathaniel Burk; sister Cherie Veazey; brother Michael Veazey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her many cousins and friends. We all know we will see her again one day and until then, we hope to live out her legacy of love and devotion with the help of our Lord and Savior.
The family wishes to thank all of Ouida's caregivers over her long hospitalization at St. Joseph's Hospital College Station, Cornerstone Specialty Hospital Conroe, and St. Luke's Hospital the Woodlands. We owe a debt of gratitude to many doctors, nurses, LVNs, PCAs, CNAs, and supervisors we can never repay. May God bless each and every one of you.
