Ofelia Castillo Rios, 80-years young, of Bryan Texas, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 2, 2023.
Ofelia was born in Cameron, Texas on March 16, 1942. She and her four sisters and five brothers were raised in Bryan and are all lifelong residents.
Ofelia was a Christian woman who had a heart after God’s own heart. She loved the Lord and she exemplified agape love into her children, family, friends, and all the people she met. She was the epitome of what family, love, and loyalty look like! Ofelia never complained about anything and was a great listener with a great sense of humor.
She had a talent for sewing and made all types of dresses and quilts. But, Ofelia’s best attribute was care-giving to the elderly and it was her nature to become family to her patients. She was 79.5 years young when she retired, but she was a helper to her last breath.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Hilaria Castillo; sister, Josephine Castillo; brother, Fidel and wife Mary Castillo of Waxahachie; sister, Betty Castillo; brother, Paul Castillo; brother, Johnny B.Castillo and wife, Janie; sister-in-law Lucy Castillo; and Abuelos de Milano whom she adored, Alberto and Adelita Valadez.
Ofelia is survived by her 10 children, Gloria Medina and husband, Rudy; Peggy Ann Rios; Benita Rios and partner, Tony Miller; Benito Rios, Jr. and wife, Ruth; Patricia Tello and husband, John; Michael Villalpando and wife, Amanda; Armando Villalpando-Colton and husband, Ken; Catherine Villalpando; Jorge Soto, Jr. and wife, Christa; Jessica Soto and husband, Ben Garcia; 44 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Pedro B. Castillo; Carmen Sauceda and husband, Leo, of Waxahachie, TX; brother, Louis Castillo and wife Ellie; Fidel Castillo and wife Carolina; and the in-Laws she loved, Paul Rios Sr. of Hilltop Lakes and David Rios and wife, Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Texas Children’s Hospital in the name of Ofelia’s grandson, Romeo Garcia, who is 16 months old and currently being treated for Leukemia.
