On Sunday, November 24, 2019, I got my voice back, my body became perfect again, and I got to meet Jesus in person.
My Earthly life began on May 23, 1998 in Nacogdoches. My parents, Chad and Amanda Whisenant named me Nolan Richard. I grew up in Bryan-College Station alongside my younger brothers and sisters: Joshua, Andrew, Kayelyn, Emery and Aurora.
As a child, I cherished our family vacations to SeaWorld - San Antonio, Colorado, Disney World, and Branson. I also enjoyed playing tennis, video games, and chess. Most of all, I loved to create music. Music spoke to me in a way that is not explainable and it became the language of my heart.
My parents taught me about Jesus at an early age and represented that my priorities should be Faith, then Family, then Friends and Music. Although placing my music fourth on the list seemed to be a struggle at times, I understood and accepted this lesson as my life focus. It helped that my family was always involved in activities at Wellborn Baptist Church. I especially loved participating in the church youth group. As I matured into a very young man, 14 to be precise, I made the personal decision to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior.
While attending high school at Rudder, I worked at Freddy's and enjoyed flirting with the girls. One must have distracted me one day, because I will never forget bagging a burger for a customer without even wrapping it up first. The highlights of high school involved friends and music and the combination of these two. I loved choir! I even served as president, helped to start the Vox Cor Acapella Group, and won the 2016 Rudder High Choir Director's Award.
Shortly after graduating from high school in 2016, my family's life changed. Although, I could not speak, sing, or move quite right, I was given the gift of three years to love my family and feel them love me.
Now that I am celebrating in Heaven with Jesus, my family invites you to celebrate my life with them starting off with a visitation from 4-8 PM this Friday (November 29th) at Hillier Funeral Home of COLLEGE STATION. The Celebration will continue on Saturday (November 30th) at 11 AM at Wellborn Baptist Church with a Celebration Reception to follow the more formal services.
To sum it up, I got inspiration from Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your father in Heaven."
