Monroe Terry, of Bryan, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008.  Mr. Terry was a loving Husband, Father, and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.


Monroe served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945.  After being honorably discharged, he came back to Texas and was hired by the Texas Highway Department.  He retired in 1978 after 33 years of striping the roads.

Monroe and Wilhelmina Suehs married on January 27, 1951.  They celebrated 56 years before her death in 2007.  They spent most of their years in Bryan, Texas, until they both went into the nursing home in their late eighties.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Mikel Terry and Ella Ethel (Jones) Terry, his wife, Wilhelmina (Tietjen) Terry and one sister, Opal Carroll.

He is survived by one stepson, J.D. Suehs, one step daughter-in-law, Mavis Suehs, 8 grandchildren: Forrest Suehs and his wife Susan, Beverly Gunderson and her husband, Alan; Clarice Key and her husband David; Derrick Suehs and wife Audrey; Judythe Collins and her husband Dwayne; Connie Suehs, Terry Suehs and his wife Lori; Duane Suehs and his wife Terri Jo, 16 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Ella Whaley and husband Clyde, Glynnie Tietjen, one brother-in-law, Elmer Dezso, nephew Don Earl Carroll and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Hillier Funeral Home with interment at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Deanville, Texas.  A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008 at Hillier Funeral Home.
