Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Aggie: Michael Shawn Mason passed away
suddenly on February 2, 2022, in College Station, Texas.
Born on December 8, 1971, to Lew and Nancy Mason in San Antonio, Texas. He had one
older brother, David. He loved all things STAR WARS, Legos, movies, and large cookie
cakes from a young age. He graduated from Medina Valley High School in 1990. Then he
went to Texas A&M University in College Station. He studied Marketing, and found a new
love for Aggie Football, Baseball, and eventually Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. Michael
loved Texas A&M and all things Aggie. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1995, but he was a
proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1994. He wore his Aggie ring with pride.
He met the love of his life in August of 1991, when Amy came to College Station to attend
Texas A&M. They met the day she moved to college at a dance hall, the funniest part was
he didn’t even like country music. They dated all through college and were truly best friends.
Aggie athletics, movies, eating meals together, and just being together, they knew they
would marry and build a life together, and boy did they.
They married in May of 1996. In between the time they were married and blessed with their
first son 6 ½ years later, they traveled, went to Aggie Athletics, watched movies/tv, and they
ate. In December of 2002, Conner James Mason was born and then in August of 2007, Jack
Cameron Mason completed their family or so they thought. In July of 2020, Kyleigh Renee
Taylor joined their family. Michael loved his children fiercely and was a loving and protective
father/uncle. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He instilled a love of movies,
legos, MARVEL, and Disney with them. Michael never missed an opening day of any
Marvel movie. He loved STAR WARS, Legos, James Bond, 80’s music, sketch comedy,
movies, and his family. He worked hard, was relatively quiet but if he talked you better
listen because it was worth hearing, and he took care of those he loved. He was one of the
wisest, most wonderful people you would have ever known. He knew movie and music
trivia and his laugh was infectious. He was a lover of dogs and cats and they loved him too.
He was a member of A&M United Methodist Church, where he read scripture, helped with
youth functions, attended bible studies, VBS, and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. You
knew if Michael was helping things would be well taken care of. He was a giver.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy;
his sons, Conner and Jack Mason; and his niece, Kyleigh Taylor. He is also survived by his
parents, Lew and Nancy Mason; his in laws, Gene and Pat Broccard; his brother, David; his
sister-in-law, Dawn; and his nephew, Jebediah Mason; his nephew, Chase Taylor; many close
friends; and his dogs, Perry and Hondo. He will be deeply missed.
Services will be at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station, Texas, on February 27, 2022, at 2:00.
