Michael D. Kennedy

January 3, 1961 — December 21, 2022

Michael “Mike” Kennedy of Navasota, born on January 3, 1961, was called home to Heaven December 21, 2022.

A man larger than life, Mike loved nothing more than spending time with friends and family.  He was as much at home calling shots in the boardroom as he was on his John Deere, with a grandbaby on his lap at the ranch in Navasota.

A legend in the oil industry, Mike was the founder of Premier Directional Drilling. The term “Midas Touch” was coined for him as all of his business endeavors turned to gold right in front of our eyes.  Mike’s business acumen allowed him and Becca to build a beautiful life together that spanned not only the US, but internationally as well, allowing them to put down roots in beautiful Costa Rica, one of Mike’s favorite places.

Over the years, Mike and Becca have selflessly and generously given of their time, talent, and resources to many philanthropic organizations such as Wounded Warrior Outdoors, Freedom’s Finest, and Deacons of Deadwood, a charitable organization that they were heavily involved with for over a decade.

A gifted storyteller, Mike was always ready to entertain with his words, and most of his retelling started off with him pulling out his phone to show a picture and saying, “Well, short story long”.  When you heard that phrase you knew you were in for a good one.  We are going to miss Mike’s stories.

A friend to all and a stranger to none, Mike’s death leaves a void in all of our hearts, but especially in Becca’s. We take comfort in knowing that he lives on in the memories of the many lives that he touched.  He may be gone from this earth, but never from our hearts.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife, Becca Kennedy; his sons, Caleb and Jacob Kennedy, Gage and Gavin Alford, and Chad Garinger (Kaitlyn); grandchildren, Walker and Haven Garinger; his mother, Rita Boutte Davis; and his many siblings.

We love you Mike, Texas is going to be a lot smaller without you!
