Maurine Good, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Services are set for 1 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Woodson First Christian Church in Woodson, Texas, with Mr. Dee Tate of Woodson officiating. Interment will be in Woodson Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan and Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home in Breckenridge, Texas.

Mrs. Good was born in Roberta, Okla., to Leslie Young and Beulah Crump Foster and moved with her family and her twin sister Maxine to Woodson, Texas, when she and Maxine were six years old. Upon graduation from North Texas State Teachers College in 1933, she married D.E. Good in Woodson and made her home there for more than 50 years. She enjoyed a career as an elementary school teacher before moving to College Station in 1983.

Mrs. Good was a member of Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was a devoted Christian, serving her Lord through her kindness and love of others, and in particular, her special gift of teaching and relating to children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, D.E. Good; sisters, Ozelle Willingham and Maxine Boyd; brother, Linze Foster; two infant children; and several beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Marshall Seymour of Bryan; son, Barry Good of College Station and wife, Tania McCoy of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dovie Good of Midland, Texas, and Luetta Foster of Fort Worth; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be C.C. Baker Jr., Craig Boyd, Keith Boyd, Larry Ellis, Lyndon Foster, Ron Good, Jacob Good, Gary Hargraves, Scott Kain, DeWayne Lancaster and Clinton Newman.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers at Crestview Retirement Center, 2505 E. Villa Maria, Bryan, TX 77802, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of that special facility where Maurine enjoyed making her home since February 2003; Woodson Ex-Students Association Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 305, Woodson, TX 76491; or a charity of choice.
