Matthew A. Moreno

Matthew Anthony Moreno, a beloved son, brother, family member, and friend, died unexpectedly on March 24, 2023 at the age of 21 in a tragic motorcycle accident.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Michael Moreno and Cindy Gerhart, and their respective spouses, Kara Moreno and Carl Gerhart; his siblings, Erica Lafleur (Jacob Lafleur), Asher Moreno, Morgan Gerhart (Laura Gerhart), Jonathan Gerhart (Ashley Gerhart), and Carl Jr. Gerhart (Laci Gerhart); his grandparents, Charles and Barbara Slusher, Ruben Moreno and Lessie Alva; and an abundance of close family members and loved ones.

Matthew was born in Miami Beach, FL on April 26, 2001 to Michael and Cindy Moreno.  Matthew was a free spirit from the time he was born. He was a devoted Christian and aimed to spread the light of the Lord in each of his daily activities. He was a passionate friend, teammate, and brother to all who knew him; to know him was to be loved by him. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being outside with his loved ones. Whether it was during his time as a dedicated teammate in football, throwing himself on the ground in baseball or soccer, riding mountain bikes with his dad, or spending time on the water with his momma, Matt was happiest when he was outside. As a senior in high school, Matt won many awards for his time on the football field, but what touched each of our hearts the most was the love he had for the community. After he graduated from Bryan High School in 2019, Matt was able to pursue his passion for football for a short period of time before returning home to Brazos Valley to chase his sincere dream of building an empire as an entrepreneur. With the Lord instilled in him, Matthew poured his heart into each of his endeavors, both personally and professionally, and we know that his legacy will live on forever. The pride from being associated with such a pure soul will live on in each of us as we navigate through this time together as his tribe.
