Martha “Pauline” Allison Vaughn, 91, of Bryan passed away on Friday, April 18, 2008, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
Pauline was born on September 24, 1916, in Hitchita, Okla., to James and Frances Allison. She married Albert M. Vaughn in 1936 in Okmulgee, Okla. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ray Robinson Oil and Joe Post 66 (a gas station). In 1956, she became a full-time mother and homemaker.
Pauline was a long time member of Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Okla. She was saved at the age of 20 years old at First Baptist Church in Muskogee, Okla., and spent her life working for the Lord and following His word, teaching by example those she loved.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with her flowers in what her granddaughters referred to as “Mimi’s magic garden.” She loved to fish and spent many a day “wetting a hook.”
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Albert Vaughn; three sisters, Mattie Berryhill, Myrtle Riley and Mary “Sis” McClanahan; three brothers, Virgil Allison, Joe Allison and James Fern Allison; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary F. Vaughn Anderson of Bryan; granddaughters, Shannon Anderson of Houston, Jessica Anderson Powell of Bangor, Wash and husband seaman E3 Brandon Powell; great-granddaughter, Julia Michelle Powell of Bangor, Wash.
