Marilyn Jean Radke, 87, of Bryan, Texas, went home to be with her Savior on May 11, 2021.
Born in Itasca, Texas, on September 11, 1933, she moved to the Bryan/College Station area in 1960. There she raised two daughters and was an active part of the community. She later went to work for the English Department at Texas A&M University and retired from there 30 years later. She was a fill in mom for many college students and helped numerous kids throughout their college years. While at A&M she worked closely with the student athletes and the athletic program. Marilyn was known for her sharp wit, fun loving attitude, and her ability to never meet a stranger. After retirement, she enjoyed her love for sports, sitting on the front porch visiting with friends, and watching the birds. Her greatest passion was the love she had for her family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters, Genell Owens, Joy Isbell, Melba Waller, Lowayne Pollard, Doris Cornelius, and Marie Adams.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters Vicki Taylor ( Randall) of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Kris Vincent (Jim) of Longview, Texas; her grandchildren Matthew Taylor (Amanda) of College Station, Texas, Justin Taylor of Dallas, Brian Taylor of College Station, Texas, Kevin Taylor of Calvert, Texas, Tyler Vincent (Julia) of Little Elm, Texas, and Austin Vincent of Grapevine, Texas.
The joy and friendship Marilyn shared with others will be missed by all who were blessed to be a part of her life story.
There will be a visitation at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, on Monday, May 17, from 2-4 pm and a private celebration of her life Tuesday, May 18.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compass Hospice of East Texas, 1115 N. Fourth St., Longview, TX 75601.
