Mable Rawls Pearce, 84, of Bryan went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2008. A memorial service to celebrate her life is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at First United Methodist Church in Bryan.
Mable was born to the Rev. John W. and Myrtle Parker Rawls on July 2, 1923. She attended school in Bryan and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1940. Mable married Stephen D. Pearce on December 20, 1947. They had two children, Stephen L. and Richard.
She enjoyed having all the neighborhood children playing in her yard. She fed not only the children but many family members on holidays and game days. Mable was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school.
Mable worked for 32 years at the Texas Agricultural Extension Service as the Supervisor of Clerical Services. She retired in August 1985 to travel and play tennis and bridge. Mable’s greatest love was for the Lord, her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Wade, Bill, Jack, Sam and John Baby Rawls; two sisters, Gladys Williamson and Peninnah Thurmond; and grandson Joshua Gray.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Stephen D. Pearce; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen L. and Rhonda Pearce and Richard D. and DeDe Pearce; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Martin; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
