Linda "Shiryn" Gabbard passed away unexpectedly and surrounded by the love of her family on August 17, 2023. She was born on March 29, 1949 in Gorman, Texas to D. W. and Georgia Curtis.
Shiryn dedicated her career to shaping young minds and fostering creativity within the education system. Her teaching journey began at Mineral Wells ISD where she inspired young minds for six years. She then joined Bryan ISD for another remarkable twenty-six years of elementary education.
Shiryn loved her students, her family, and her Savior. It was God that gave her the gifts that she shared with the world. Her artistic abilities and creativity, her delicate hand that crafted every quilt in the Gabbard family, and her love. Her love was the greatest gift she could have ever shared.
Shiryn is preceded in death by her parents, D.W. and Georgia Curtis. Precious memories of Shiryn will forever be cherished by her husband, Carl Gabbard; daughters, Ashley Jolly and husband Steve, and Tamara Wingfield and husband Matt; cousins, Jan Jermain and Kenneth Fields; and her seven adored grandchildren.
Shiryn's legacy as a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and artist will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing she made a significant impact on the lives of those she touched.
