Lillian Sonnergren Terkelsen Brinkman & Gordon Martin Brinkman

June 15, 1928 — March 5, 2022

Lillian grew up in Staten Island, New York. She loved speed skating, singing in the church choir, and gardening with her father. She graduated from Port Richmond High School in Staten Island and attended Hunter College. Lillian met her husband, Gordon, at Zion Lutheran Church and they enjoyed a full life together.

A loving, compassionate, strong individual, Lillian was a loyal friend to all. Her special phrases were “Uff Da” and “FHB” (family hold back when guests arrived). Full of fun, she loved to golf, spend time with family and friends, read, garden, and preserve relationships through Facebook. She was a strong Christian and enjoyed sharing her talents and faith as a Boy’s Country Volunteer. Her Norwegian heritage and Lutheran upbringing instilled in her the importance of family and she passed those ideals on to her children. Her parent’s 50th anniversary and her own 75th and 90th birthdays were cherished events in her life because all her family was gathered together.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Magnus and Alma Sonnergren; Franklin Terkelsen; and siblings John, Austin, Eddie, Buddy, Arthur, and Genevieve.

Lillian leaves behind her loving husband, Gordon, and six children and spouses; Gail Terkelsen; Carol (Terkelsen) Hansen and Jim; Carl Terkelsen and Diana; Eric Terkelsen and Lorri; Barbara (Brinkman) Fitzgerald; and Bob Brinkman and Angelique. Also surviving Lillian are her 15 grandchildren and 17 great-children.
