Kelly Hatcher

Kelly Marie McFarland Hatcher, 69, passed away peacefully in her home in College Station on November 8, 2021. Kelly was the second of 4 daughters born to her parents.

Kelly grew up in the small town of Bellaire, inside the city of Houston, Texas and went to Lamar High School and the University of Texas in Austin. She worked in her early years as a graphic artist and moved to the Bryan/ College Station area many years ago. She also lived briefly in Tampa, Florida to be near her father. She and her then-husband built a home in the country south of College Station and she lived there for about 25 years in the peace of the countryside.

Kelly was a vibrant, bright woman who made friends easily. She thrived in her country home, despite being disabled with chronic pain and surviving breast cancer. Many thanks to her caregivers, Charmaine Hutchinson and Kimberly May.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph McFarland Jr. and Virginia McFarland Gilliland and her step-brother David Clinton Gilliland.

She is survived by her sisters Shawn McFarland, Leslie Anders and Lisa McFarland of Houston and step-brother Robert Gilliland of Austin.

Kelly’s ashes and those of her pets will be scattered in the Big Bend area of Texas. May the memory of her spunk be a part of our memories of her.
