Kaye S. Poe

With a smile that could light up a room, Kaye demonstrated that life is a beautiful thing and should be treasured. She felt that it was just as important to say “I love you” to a stranger as it was to say to her husband.

Kaye grew up in Anahuac, Texas. She was an active teenager involved in cheerleading, homecoming court, and the high school band. With a degree in Special Education from Stephen F. Austin University, Kaye was a giving and caring fourth grade teacher - she bought lunches and supplies for countless numbers of students. She cherished and saved the special notes she received from them.

Kaye met Finley Poe in Nacogdoches at the Stephen F. Austin University during a Methodist church service. They were married for 47 years. Kaye’s passions in life always included her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and sorority sisters. Each time a child or grandchild was born, it was the greatest day of her life! She loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays, as well as hiking in the mountains. Always a loving and compassionate person, Kaye was actively involved with Meals on Wheels.

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Jackie and Bill Stone, and Ollie.

She is survived by her husband, Finley Poe; her children Ryan and spouse, Myra; Sam and spouse, Lisa; and Cameron and spouse, Paige; her grandchildren Mabel, Maude, Harrison, and Nora; her sibling Ken Stone, and spouse Mimi.  Kaye also loved her furry family member, Oskar.

The family would like to acknowledge Baylor Scott and White of College Station for their compassionate, Christian care and extends sincere thanks to her Sorority Sisters in Alpha Chi Omega. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Kaye’s name to the American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.
