Kate Weghorst Hohlt, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, October 6, 2023, at her home in College Station, Texas. She was born December 1, 1941, in Houston, Texas to Mary (Burke) and William Weghorst. When she was nine, her family moved to Brenham. She would graduate from Brenham High School in 1960 alongside some of her best friends whose friendship she cherished her entire life.
On July 3, 1965, she married the love of her life, Donald Hohlt, and shortly thereafter moved to Irving, Texas. While in Irving, she worked part-time at the University of Dallas, but her main focus was always being a mom to her two girls. After retirement, she moved to College Station to be closer to her family. She enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, and painting, but more so, she loved having long conversations with family and friends, and attending her grandchildren’s events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and William Weghorst.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Hohlt; her daughters, Kimberly Sanford and husband Chris and Amy Corcoran and husband Kelly; her grandchildren, Trenton Marek, Trevor Marek, A.J. Corcoran, Cade Corcoran, Ashyln Sanford, Taylor Sanford, and Hunter Sanford; as well as her sister, Mary Kay Torres.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kate's memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station or the Brazos Valley Food Bank.
