Karen May Stewart-Baggot

May 17, 1956 — December 20, 2023

Karen May Stewart-Baggot arrived in her eternal home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of sixty-seven. Born on May 17, 1956 in Pensacola, Florida to Neil Burton Baggot and JoAnne Wallace, Karen was the second of two children. Karen’s only son, Evan James Stewart, proceeded her in death.

Being part of a military family, Karen often moved throughout California while growing up.  She spent her teenage years in San Diego and graduated from Kearny Mesa High School in 1974.  Karen obtained a Recreation Associate of Science Degree in 1978 from Grossmont College.  A significant portion of Karen’s adult life was spent raising and taking care of her son, Evan, to whom she was very devoted.  Sixteen years before moving to Bryan, Texas, Karen spent time in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Ministry and Leadership from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2013 and her Master’s Degree in Theology from Destiny Christian University in 2015.

Karen was artistically gifted and very creative as expressed through her journalling and writing poetry.  She loved history, record keeping and often created and shared scrapbooks for family life events. Jewish history was of keen interest to Karen, and she enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others.

Karen possessed a very quiet spirit and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She cared for her son in the last days of his life.  Upon moving to Bryan, Karen quickly became involved in prayer ministry, bible studies and a church adult life group, that significantly impacted her life. She ministered to neighbors, new friends, and family both spiritually and socially.

Preceded in death by her parents and son, Karen is survived by her brother, Rick (Nancy) Baggot, their children Andrea (Eric), Erica, and Ryan; Rick’s six grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Karen’s life is scheduled on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at College Heights Assembly of God Church, 4100 Old College Road, Bryan, TX.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
