Joseph Ross

Joseph Ross, 80, of Bryan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. The family will receive visitors at Hillier Funeral Home at 2301 E. 29thSt., in Bryan, from 5:30-7:30 pm Friday, May 25, 2007. A rosary will be held at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by internment at ResteverMemorial Park.
After serving in World War II, and being honorably discharged, Joseph attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he graduated and met his wife of 56 years Raetta. He was employed by the U.S. Government working at the Pentagon for two years and then he accepted a position at the Aluminum Company of America where he began his career in New Kensington, PA and advanced into various positions in Alcoa, TN, Pittsburgh, PA, and Rockdale, TX where he retired after 32 years of service. Joseph was instrumental in helping his son, Jeff, start Overhead Door Co. of South Central Texas where he worked until December, 2006.
Joseph loved being with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sporting events, especially with his children and grandchildren. Joseph was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife Raetta Ross; Bryan, TX. Surviving children are his sons Joseph and wife Brenda; Olympia, WA, Tom and wife Kate; La Quinta, CA, Jeff and wife Lauri; Brenham, TX, and daughters Linda Montoya; Bryan, TX, and Leslie Crouch and husband Don; Bastrop, TX. Surviving grandchildren are, Jennifer Lee, Jason Ross, Kyle Olson, Kerry Olson, Kristy Montoya, Joshua Montoya, Anthony Montoya, Donald Crouch, Christopher Crouch, Megan Crouch, Patrick Crouch, Michael Ross, and Daniel Ross and Anissa Pratt. He has four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Ross and three brothers and two sisters. Surviving sisters include Elaine Snowdon; McKinney, TX and June Valko and husband Mike of Indiana.
