Joe Tobar

Joe “Baltares” Tobar, 90, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away January 20, 2008 at the Calvert Nursing Home in Calvert, Texas.  He was born October 14, 1917 to Modesto Tobar and Juanita Ramirez.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas with Rev. Monsignor John A. McCaffrey presiding.  A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Hillier Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. during the visitation.  Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Joe married Juanita Acosta on September 27, 1954 in Houston, Texas.  He lived there for 30 years and was employed by Bill English Construction Co.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years and his sisters Nellie Anazaldua of Baycliff and Tommie Fajardo of Waco, brother-in-law Gillie Acosta; and sister-in-law: Lydia Becerra.
He leaves cherished memories to: Daughter and son-in-law, Mona & David Martinez; two granddaughters, Lori and her husband Gilbert Castillo, Leslie Martinez and her fiancé Ernest Alvarado; five great grandchildren and expecting a new addition.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Mary & Manuel Alaman, Carolina & Fidel Castillo, Rosie Alvarez, and Susie Acosta; brothers-in-law: Leon & Betty Acosta, Roy & Margaret Acosta; all of Bryan.
Donations on behalf of Mr. Tobar can be made to the Calvert Nursing Home; 701 East Browning, Calvert, Texas.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the extended family for the years of great and fantastic memories.
