Jo Ann Woodward, age 76, of Houston, Texas left us to be with our Lord and Savior on October 13, 2023, in College Station, Texas.
Jo Ann was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother (“Mida”) and is now reunited with her parents, William (Bill) and Ivy Walden, and grandson Cameron Garcia. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Jennifer Garcia, sister, Billy Jean Nichols, grandson, Gavin Garcia, as well as many other extended family and friends she held dear.
Jo Ann loved to cook as well as bake and did so often for her family, friends and neighbors. Grandson Gavin already misses the special chocolate chip cookies she made for him regularly. She also enjoyed sewing, football (especially the Aggies), baseball, racing, reading, watching Law and Order and her daily phone conversations with her sister, Billy.
She was a wonderful mother, always putting her loved one’s needs before her own. She devoted much of her time after she retired to care for her grandchildren, Gavin and Cameron, as well as other children of family and friends before they started daycare or school. She was happiest teaching them the ABC’s and 123’s as well as making arts and crafts together. She was so very funny, creative, smart, and generous. All the ways in which she will be missed are immeasurable.
