Jesus M. Gonzalez

June 7, 1951 — July 19, 2023

Jesus M. Gonzalez, 72, of College Station passed away July 19, 2023

Jesus was born June 7, 1951 and grew up in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. He met his wife, Rita, in school. Married in 1975, they shared 47 wonderful years together.

His love for his wife, kids, mother, granddaughter, and siblings was his passion; he was always very strict, but he was fair and caring. Above all, he demonstrated that one should be humble in life and treat everyone with respect. His family was his priority in life, and he stressed that they should go to college and get a higher education, save money and invest wisely, and always love your mom. Jesus was very proud that his sons graduated from Texas A&M University, and he wore the Aggie maroon with great pride!

He worked as a receiving manager at Wal Mart for many years and was proud to have met Mr. Sam Walton, the owner. He and his best friend, Joaquin Vazquez, loved music and baseball and he also enjoyed boxing, reading, and family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Gonzalez Zamora and Amparo Juarez Gonzalez.

Jesus is survived by his wife, Rita Herrera Gonzalez; children, Gabriel and Hugo Gonzalez; granddaughter, Giselle “Gigi” Gonzalez; and siblings, Jose H. Gonzalez, Hilda G. Pottinger, Amparo Beattie, and Silvia L. Diaz.

The family would like to acknowledge the special care given to Jesus by the staff at Accel Nursing Home.
