Jerry L. Moore

January 24, 1952 — May 10, 2024

Jerry Lynn Moore, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called to be with the Lord on May 10th, 2024, surrounded by his family at the age of 72.

Born January 24th, 1952 in Manhattan, Kansas, Jerry led a life full of service to his community and dedication to taking care of his family. After realizing the mistake of letting a son be born in Kansas, his parents, Clarence and Minnie Jane, moved to Texas as fast as they could and settled down in College Station. With Clarence working for the Dept of Agriculture, it wasn't many years later that the family ended up in Morton, Illinois where he would spend most of his later childhood and college years.

Realizing yet again what he was missing out on, he moved back to Texas and settled down in College Station on Park Place & joined the Bryan Police Dept in 1982. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Melissa, while she was in the Brazos County Jail (She worked for the Brazos County Sheriffs Dept). Together, they moved to Bryan and raised four children, Megan, Matthew, Kellye, and Aryn.

While serving the police department for over 20 years, he enjoyed keeping a close eye on his kids and being a part of several programs the department put on for community awareness. The D.A.R.E. program & serving in the schools where his children attended were among his favorites to do. He also loved taking his entourage of kids on long bike rides, attending the annual family reunion in Gatesville, camping, boating & fishing on Cedar Creek Lake, and later on, going to auctions. He loved working on computers, as anyone that drove down Kirkwood Dr could tell. Especially if the garage was open.

In 2004, he retired from the Bryan Police Department due to his lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease and Pancreatic cancer. Jerry would've stayed an officer until the very end if he would have had it his way. He loved the life of an officer & all the life-long friends he made at the city. In retirement, he enjoyed the quieter and slower side of things. Watching his kids and grandkids grow up was something he took great joy in.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents who had been married for 61 years, Clarence (2007) and Minnie Jane Moore (2008). He is survived by his two brothers and sister. Melton and Nancy Moore of Mabank, TX. Dale and Julie Moore of Morton, Illinois, and Mary Moore of Tyler, TX. His wife, Melissa Moore. His children, Megan Calimbas of College Station, Matthew and Brittany Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and his twin daughters (his favorites, but we can't blame him)  Kellye and Aryn Moore, also of College Station, TX. His grandchildren, Nicholas Calimbas of College Station & Hadley Moore of Colorado Springs.  Along with numerous other Featherston & Moore cousins, nieces, and nephews spread out across the globe.

A celebration of Life is being planned for later in June with details to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Aggieland Humane Society.
