Jerrie R. Curry

January 27, 1942 — September 21, 2023

Jerrie Rosamond Curry, 81, a caring and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandma, passed away on September 21, 2023 after a short, three-month battle with dementia.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Jerry and Johnnie McDow of Stigler, Oklahoma, Jerrie grew up in Stigler and graduated from Oklahoma State University. She married Guy L. Curry, also from Stigler, in the summer of 1964. They resided in Wichita, Kansas where Jerrie taught grade school and Guy was in engineering computing at The Boeing Co. Over their five-year span in Wichita, they had two sons: Michael Guy (deceased) and John Edward. After moving to Tulsa, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Anne Catherine. During the summer of 1970, the Currys moved to Bryan, Texas where Guy initiated his half-century tenure as a professor in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University. Jerrie taught private first grade before becoming an accountant for RRC, Inc. until she retired after twenty-five years of service.

Jerrie’s favorite place was their shared home (an 1860’s Amish barn relocated from Indiana) with Jay and Nancy Curry eight miles outside of Durango, Colorado. The 7,000 feet altitude, beautiful mountain views, and majestic pine trees around the 11 acres brought her contentment for over 25 summers and countless skiing trips. Jerrie had a passion for sharing meals with family and friends and playing cards, particularly bridge or hearts any time of the day.

Jerrie is survived by her husband of 59 years; her son, John Curry and wife Arlene and family; her daughter, Anne Exley; grandchildren, Brittany Exley, Nicholas Exley and Rebecca Anne Curry; and her sister, Margaret Ann Hodnik of Olathe, Kansas.

The family wishes to express appreciation to Accel of College Station and Brazos Valley Hospice for their loving and exceptional care during her short stay.

Following cremation, a private celebration of Jerrie’s life will be held at a later date.
