Jean Adams

Jean Huffty Adams, age 81, of Bryan, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

Born in Oak Grove, LA in 1942, Jean moved to Groves, TX as a young girl and graduated from Port Neches/Groves High School. She worked in the hospitality industry for years before working for Kroger, from where she retired. It was in the hospitality industry she met the love of her life, Don Adams. Working the front desk of the hotel one day, Don walked in and Jean immediately walked back to her boss to say, “The man I’m going to marry just walked in the door!” They have been together ever since.

Together, Jean and Don raised a beautiful family. Jean’s family was always first. She enjoyed trips to Heber Springs, AR to visit her brother and sister. Oh, the joys of fishing and reading, but most of all being with her family! Jean was remarkably friendly, never having met a stranger. Her positive outlook on life made this easy.

Jean loved her Lord and put her faith above everything. May we rejoice that she now spends her days in His arms, until we meet again.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Louden and Dollie Huffty; sister, Sandra Smith; and brother-in-law, Henry Tilbury.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Adams; children, Windy (Kris) Swearingen, Tim Sample, Matt (Amanda) Adams, Monte (Jane) Adams, Meredith (James) Buck and Neavis Adams; grandchildren, Tiffany and Sydney Swearingen, Ty and Tarah Sample, Taylor, Gabe, Drew and Isabella Adams, Cory Buck and Sarah Saulsberry, and Tisa Lahagu; and siblings, Anita Tilbury and Larry Huffty.
