James G. Davis

James “Jim” G. Davis, age 82, passed away on April 11, 2024, at home. He was born on June 22, 1941 in Brownwood, Texas to Thelma and V. W. Davis. He lived in Bryan, TX with his wife, Mary Chenault and their dog, Jacques. 

Jim served in the US Army from 1961-1966 as a Medical Corpsman, having spent most of his time in Germany. Upon his discharge, Jim worked for the family business, Waller Implements and Hardware, in Waller, TX for several years. Jim moved to College Station and found his calling as a salesman and retired in 2003 after having worked at Bryan 800 Communications for 16 years.  

Jim was a family man and enjoyed spending time with them, especially the children. He was a kid at heart and had a great rapport with them all; they loved their time with “Poncho” or “Papa” as they called him. He enjoyed his trips to Rockport to visit his sister Vesta and Bob. He looked forward to the regular long dinners out with his friends Ken and Marti Dobbs that were always filled with so much laughter. Jim was kind and was always there to help anyone in need even if it was just to listen to them. Jim was a Christian man that loved God more than anything and was a member of Northview Baptist Church and loved his Church family dearly. 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and V. W. Davis; wife, Annette Davis; brothe,r Kenneth Davis; brother-in-law, Bob Willie; and stepchildren, Butch Farmer and Tracey Pettit.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Chenault Davis; dog, Jacques; son, Jason (Sandy) Davis of Flagstaff, Arizona; stepchildren, Brenda VandeWalle, Kelly Fuschak, Clifton Sanderson, Ricky Sanderson, and Kathleen Sanderson; sister, Vesta Willie of Rockport; sister-in-law, Wynelle Davis of Cypress; sister-in-law, Anna Neff of Manor; brother-in-law, John (Jenny) Pettit; sister-in-law, Carol (Bobby) Bounds; brother-in-law, James Pettit of Somerville; brother-in-law, Doug Pettit of Paris; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
