Isabelle "Betty" Descheneaux

Isabelle  “Betty” Descheneaux, 88, of Lowell, MA, Franklin, TX and Sparta, TN went home to her Lord and Savior after suffering a heart attack.  Betty grew up in Massachusetts with 6 brothers and 3 sisters.  She became an accomplished singer.  If you were tuned into WLLH radio in the 1940’s, you may have heard her sing.  She was the Betty of “Bob and Betty” that sang all the called-in requested songs.  Lowell was also where she met, fell in love with and married Albert “Scout” Descheneaux of the Descheneaux Bros. Dairy on Mt. Hope St.  Scout added 4 more sisters and 7 brothers to their large but close family circle.  Betty was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a doting grand-mother and great grandmother.  Betty was preceded in death by her best friend and husband Scout in 1970.  She never remarried and remained in love with Scout until the day she died.  Betty devoted her life to Jesus, family and friends.  She was always the first in line to give a helping hand.  Betty and Scout were members of the Fleur-de-Lis and Happy Hunter’s Clubs where they attended many gala affairs with both family and friends.
Since 1984 Betty has lived with her daughter, Lea “Cricket” Coble and husband Jerry.  Since 2000, they spent summers on Bon Air Mountain in Sparta, TN and worshipped at Central Church of Christ since 2006.  They spent winters in Franklin, TX and worshipped at the Franklin Church of Christ.
A private visitation for immediate family was held at Hillier Funeral Home of Bryan, TX on Sunday March 2, 2008 where the family said their last earthly goodbyes.  Our tears were of gratitude and thanksgiving to God for the wonderful gift she was to all of us.
Betty’s Memorial Service and celebration of her beautiful life will be conducted by Brother Al Jolly and will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Franklin Church of Christ, 517 Bremond St., Franklin, TX.
In lieu of flowers, Betty wished that anyone who wanted to spend something on flowers to please donate that money to her grandson Michael’s medical fund to help in his fight with cancer.  Those donations can be made to:  Michael D.
