Herlinda Rodriguez grew up in Steel Store. Intelligent with a thirst for learning, she loved to read and when she ran out of books, she would read encyclopedias. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin, later furthering her education at Texas A&M where she earned a BA in Modern languages and at University of Texas where she earned her PhD law degree. She was an attorney for Hispanics and anyone needing help; she only ever lost one case. She met her husband when he walked into her office in search of legal help.
Her love of reading continued with history and historical people. Everyone, especially the elderly, knew that they could always go to her for help and advice because it was solid. She helped her husband establish his construction business and also assisted a charter school with legal advice.
A quiet person by nature, Herlinda taught others to be kind and considerate to each other, to be honest, to enjoy life, and always thank God. She loved to pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
She has been reunited with her father, Arcenio Rodriguez Sr.; mother: Valeriana Rodriguez; brother: Arcenio Rodriguez Jr., grandparents; and other family.
Herlinda is survived by her spouse, Roger Jasso; four children, Roger Jr. (Nikki), Karena, Clarissa, Adrian (Kelly); sister, Ernestine Ramirez; brother, Albert Rodriguez; and grandchildren, Kylie, Kynzie, Jordan ,Finley, and Karis.
The family wishes to acknowledge the special care given to Herlinda by Lilia Castorena, Kimberly Tepera, and St. Joseph Hospital.
